The Yorktown Garden of Hope is a non-profit, community-driven organic garden that supplies fresh produce to local food pantries, as well as offering organic gardening training. It is located at Willow Park, Yorktown, at the corner of Tulip and Curry streets. Members of Grace Lutheran have “adopted” five of the 40 foot rows and is currently growing swiss chard, kale, peppers, scallions, peas, tomatoes and zucchini in our rows.
The Garden of Hope is open to any and all volunteers! Do you have 15 minutes and want to water the green beans? Do you have a strong teenager that wants to push the mower? Do you want to learn more about vegetable gardening? A variety of tasks are available! This is also a great opportunity for youth to get service hours.

A major work day is planned for Saturday June 4 from 10am-5pm. Additional garden rows need to be built up with wood chips, compost and soil and readied for planting. A large delivery of plants need to put in the ground in the Garden’s remaining empty rows and interplanted in the rest of the rows. A fencing team will be working to erect more robust deer fencing.
