To Learn More. To Sing. To Pray Together.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the
kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
At Grace, we continue to foster a warm and caring environment for our youngest parishioners, helping children to grow in their love of God and understanding of Christ’s teachings. Children learn the word of God through Bible study, song, and activity. Through individual class time and group gatherings, we want children to feel they are important members of our Church family and precious children of God.
We kick off our Sunday School year with “Registration Sunday”, with a Meet and Greet Registration. There is no formal lesson, but we met in Fellowship Hall to (re)introduce ourselves to our families, and talk about our classes. We have continued our 2 age-appropriate classes for our boys and girls (prek -2nd grade and 3rd-6th grades). During this time the children help with “God’s Work, Our Hands” activity, they meet other children, reconnect with friends, and get their picture taken for our “I Registered for Sunday School” bulletin board.
The structure of Sunday School is as follows: At 9:45 the children walk around ringing the bell and gather up in the front of the sanctuary for songs, prayer, offering and birthdays – from there we take the children into their respective classrooms for their weekly lesson and craft or activity. For the younger children we invite parents/guardians to return to the classroom at 10:25 to help with the craft. Sunday School wraps up at approx. 10:45am each week.
During the course of the Sunday School year we work on several projects – in the fall, as stated above, we help with the “God’s Work, Our Hands” activity, we put on our Christmas Pageant, we do the “Caring & Sharing” activity, where we fill stockings for children accessing the Community Food Pantry in Mohegan Lake and a spring project for the community as well.
All children are welcome to our Grace Sunday School. If you have any questions please reach out to our Church Office.
