We encourage our family members to be active in community service and fellowship events sponsored by Grace Lutheran Church. These include ongoing participation in:
- Donations of non-perishable food delivered to the Community Food Pantry in Mohegan Lake throughout the year.
- Each February we collect boxes of cereal during our “Super Cereal Bowl of Caring” campaign. This results in hundreds of boxes that are collected and then donated to our local community.
- Our Sunday School students fill Christmas stockings with needed items and toys for the food pantry as well as assemble bookbags with school supplies
- Collecting items for St. Mary’s Episcopal Church’s yearly winter coat drive
- “Cookies for College” baking and packing of cookie tins in May and December (just in time for college finals)
- Donations of bag lunches, clothing and toiletries for Midnight Run to serve NYC homeless
- Potluck fellowship events
- Piecemakers make quilts for Lutheran World Relief, which are sent around the world for those in need
- Each year an Angel Tree is set up in our lobby with wish lists for those in our community who need Santa’s help
- Grace Bakers meet once per month to bake goodies for our Sunday fellowship
- Grace Dining Out Club meets once per month and celebrates friendship and fellowship at a local restaurant. Each month is different!
- Keeping in touch with members who may not be able to attend in-person worship services and activities.
- Special fellowship events during the year may include Family Movie Nights, Boy Scout Sunday pancake breakfast and Harvest Breakfast (October). In December, we host a Christmas party at Grace, featuring a catered dinner, a visit from Santa Claus, story time with Pastor Chris, caroling and good fellowship.
